Disappointing Level of Service
A 3rd call to the UOB Center

Me: Pls help me check, this is my third call, and it had been 3 weeks. And I still haven't receive my replacement card.
Op: Pls hold on, while we check for you. Miss Karen
Me: Okay
_._._._._._._

Op: Oh, the card was sent out to you on 20th Apr.
Me: Well, it's the 28th now.
Op: Can i double-check your address wit you.
Me: It's xxxxxxxxx
Op: Address is correct, let me check with the card centre. Did you make any special request? Did you clear your mail box?
Me: Are you trying to be funny? I'm not an idiot. The first time i called, I ask for an urgent replacement, the operator told me to do self-collection. But the 2nd time i called, the ops said the previous ops have sent to my resident address. Can you all MAKE UP YOUR MIND? If it's self-collection, i received NO notification. If it's mailed out, i received none either.
Op: (panic in voice) Oh, Can I check with the card center, and get them to call you back?
Me: You'd better.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I'm must say, I'm usually NOT a diffcult customer, and I know that this poor operator is not to blame, since she just take on my case. But UOB is really testing my patience, which by now, is running dangerously thin. I have asked for a URGENT REPLACE, for goodness sake. And it's been 3 weeks now. And i was told last night that it normally take one week to get the replacement card. How irony.

And this morning, the card officer called and announced that my card had been sitting in their office since the 2oth. And i could go collect it today. It just sent my blood boiling.

I'm so disappointed at UOB.

Auntie Power
Scene 1: Admiralty MRT Station
People are running after trains, or buses. Aunties waddling to the nearby market in groups of various numbers, chatting at high level of decibel. Executives walk hastily, trying to catch the MRT train before it pulls out of the station.

Not to mention, the noise is deafening.

Scene 2: Tangong Pagar MRT Station
Train door open. And commuters pour out like a dam open. The atmosphere is solemn. Everyone walks up the stairs orderly, briefcase in hands.

Most importantly, it's quiet. Despite the number of people being there. The loudest sound coming from the station gates, and the beeping when commuters head out, and to their respective offices within CBD areas.

~**~**~**~**~**~

Two stakingly different picture, in two stations.
The difference was -- the presence of aunties.

I have always enjoy the scene that greeted me at Admiralty Station when I alight the bus. Full of life & chatters. It's somehow similar to the lunch hour at Shenton Way. But i did not take note of the on-goings at Tangong Pagar. Perhaps my brain was not yet up & running after napping for 45min on the train.

Till today.

The chatters followed me all the way to Tangong Pagar. I wondered why, and realised the cause of the commotions on the usually quiet train (most people snoozing) was the presence of not 2, not 3, but 5 aunties.

An invincible force.

The chatters rang all through the journey, till they alighted at Buona Vista. The silence after the chattering was even more deafening than the chatters themselves.

I could see more than a few commuters give a sigh of relieve.

Forth Day Already...
And I'm still standing firm.

It's okay that only my dishes are not washed.

It's okay that you build a silent wall.

It's okay that only my bed was not made.

All I can say is, You made all these happened. One big house, three people hiding in three bedrooms, and a not home-coming brother. You call this a family, i call it hostel. A place to spend the night in.

All because of your childish ways...

I'm not giving in, it's a door for more tantrum. We are no longer young, we cannot tolerate this kinda things from you, just like it's no use using cane. I hope you get the picture.

All your lives, you want people to read your mind. It's not happening, and it's not going to happen anyway. At least not on my side, I'm not good at reading minds. If I can, I'll get filthy rich just offering my mind reading services.

You complained he's always shouting. All i could say is, he's a reflection of you. How can he not scream, when all he saw was screaming in the house. Where is the love?

-Sigh-

I wish I could get out of the house, or should i say, a change of hostel.

Make me mad, I'll burn the house down. With everyone in it.
Silent the screams. Forever.

Opps, I did it again!
The familiar urge is back. I guess my mobile's expiry date is creeping near...

Unsurprisingly, i once again find myself scavenging the newspaper for any promotion on the sale of the latest, and interesting mobile. It does not help that the stupid M1 had sent a brochure to my brother, offering him a FREE Nokia6170 for a 2-year contract.

The Heck. At a right timing when my brother had told me the day before that he wanted to change his mobile, as the current one (which once belong to me--Panasonic X70) was giving him a hell time. Is this a punishment to me for jumping to the red wagon (singtel)? I'll get even! Humph!

That equals to:
No chance of psychoing him to change the mobile for me.

-Sigh-

My boss commented long long time before that i might have some psychology problems with mobile phones. None of them last me longer than 8 months. And yet, i can stand the same man for 4 years.

To him, it does not make any (not even little) sense.
The only explaination he can offer is that, since i can't change my man, i change my mobile.
It's like an act of revenge or something.

No, not true.

Unlike human contact, which is like wine (the longer you keep, the better it is), I get bored with my possessions. Irregardless of whether it is my mobile, my clothes, accessories... It all comes with an expiry dates. But look at my friends around me. Some have been existing since the dinosaurs age.

Yeah, I'm a sentimental person.
Show me love & concern, i'll cry & love you more. Bitch me, you'll die.
I differentiate black & white clearly. Grey area does not exist in my dictionary. At least not yet.

Back to mobile topic, I want to be cured.
After analysing why i behaved this way.. This is what i found.
-My most lasting mobile was N8210. But I changed the Xpress-on covers like, every three months.
-The rest of my mobile can't keep my interest for long..
Thus, I concluded that it's the look of the mobile. I get sick looking at the same appearance for some time.

I'm thinking about the mobile wrapping service i saw with Mel & Marie at Bishan Junction 8 last Sunday. They actually wrap your mobile in special wraping papers, that resist wear & tear, and scratches, for up to 7 years.

Dismissing the 7 years, it's the changes in outlook that interest me. Imagine, i just need to pay $50 and it's like a new phone! Minus the "getting-use-to" period. Compared to getting a new mobile which could easily set me back by another $200.

COOL

Anyway, share with you. The latest obssession.

The Usual Monday Reporting
So much thing happened. I wanna puke.

It all started on...

-Thursday-
We (hubby & me) went back to his place after an appointment with my cousin. It's frightening how fast a series of events can twist an otherwise routined evening.

When we stepped into the house, Snow White (Hubby's oldest dog--12 yrs old) got choked on a piece of apple. What happen after that seem surreal.

Snow White panicked, trying to cough out the apple. Failed.
She started foaming at the mouth. *Panic*
She laid in the dog bed, gasping for air, struggling to breathe.
Her tongue turned purple, and she started to cry.

-Panic-Panic-Panic-

Rushed her to A&E @ Mt. Pleasant close to mid-night.
And discovered a more serious condition, which was there all along, but it was worsen by this incident.

Bloated. Countless dogs had die from this condition. It's when the stomach had alot of gas, that the whole stomach was filled with gas, then the stomach would expand, twist, and the dog dies.

The lucky ones who reached the hospital in time go through a painful surgery where the vet opened their stomach, untwist the stomach, and sew it to the ribs to prevent further twisting.

Did I mention that it's painful?

Well, end of story was that for Snow White, the blessed one, the stomach was four-fifth filled with gas, so no, it's not life threatening, but she needs emergency decompression. A tube was inserted into her through the mouth, while she laid under aneasthetic (spelling?) and the air were all sucked out.

She was discharged on Sunday. That's 3 days in hospital, and $600 poorer for the owner.

Sunday--Thai Express Day
Hang out with Marie & Mel, can't believe this feel so bloody familiar. It's like back to school days!

Well, life have been tough on three of us, me being the luckiest. I struggle between thank-you-kiss and kiss-my-ass.

I guess i'd better take the thank-you-kiss... Just in case.

Had the famous "Fire Noodle", and got myself on fire. IT SURE WAS HOT!!!! Throw in the towel after finishing half of it.

But the bottom line being:

It feel so good to just hang around like that. And double good news, Marie might, i say might, but i'm keeping my fingers cross, that she's going Bintan with us!! Now there's 5 of us!!!

Parcels of LIfe, There's No Option Given
Things in Life is so unpredictable.

I would never think that:
-I would work in the current company
-With my boyfriend for 4years
(with a history of not having relationship that last more than a year)
-I'd never thought that i would have a 5-men team under my care
-Never thought i'd have a dog

I could go on & on...

What I am trying to say is that, Life always throw unexpected things in our face when we
least expect it. How we deal/coup with it depend on ourselves. There's no guidelines, no
example for us to refer.

So what do we do?

We can only relies on our family & friends' advice, or borrow a shoulder to cry on.
What more can be done?

Something happen out of the blue. I feel shock, hurt, sad and abit lost.

I want to help, but what can I do?
My shoulders are ready, but does the person willing to take it?
Will I make the matter worse?

*sigh*

So much questions, so little answer...
That's LIFE for you.

I found a Beautiful Message.

"There's no reason to continue letting this thing bother you. You've got thing to do and people to see - and not nearly enough time to squeezeit all as it is.

Let go of your nagging concern. Focus on the pleasant things that are going on in your World, and let someone else do the worrying. You've done enough of that lately. Think of this as a day off"

See, perfectly fine for work.

So, if there's anythin that's bothering you, or threatening you to lose your sanity. Where you think you can't hold on much longer, and the temptation of typing out THAT "R" letter seem so strong that it look like the most natural thing to do...

Take a deep breath & chant this sutra 3 times.

Works like magic all the time.

Bye-bye Sunkissed; Hello Chao Tah (Burnt) :(
Spent the WHOLE of yesterday at Siloso Beach, Sentosa. So was very badly burnt.

But had a jolly fun day filled with frisbee, tuna sandwiches, beach volleys & people-watching. Best of all was that everyone enjoyed themselves, new & old friends alike.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com That's the whole group, minus me. Why? Because i was taking the picture! Duh.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Have read from another local blog that the writer's secondary school's friend had passed away on last Saturday, from a bike accident.

It brought tears to my eyes, and thoughts to a friend that used to spend time together.

We were never close, but out path crossed during my Poly Sales-Outlet attachment. He always brought laughter to my group of people. Coming to our shop at 11am sharp to read free newspaper. In fact, our group became close to him because of a bike accident he met. Irony.

Due to his accident, we nicknamed him "MRT track", as he had a huge scar on his right arm from the surgical operation. The first time I saw him, his hand was in the cast. I remembered his awkwardness, in trying to handle everything with his left hand. We teased him mercilessly for his clumsiness. That's when the whole group of us became close.

Yet, never once did he lose patience. Trying and trying again to handle the otherwise simple, everyday task. Always with a smile, laughing at his own clumsiness.

Soon, attachment was over, and each of us went back to our original clique. It's just a "Hi" & "Bye" whenever we meet. Yet never once did I saw him without a smile.

Time passed, and eventually we all had graduated, found jobs, and lead different lives. Then we didn't bother to keep in touch. Maybe because we are all living in the North, meeting each other on street is not impossible.

Who knows. God had greater plan for each of us.

One day in August 2004, God called him home. He was on his beloved bike.

There were friends who cried, there were friends who were sad.
Just becuase of the lack of effort in trying to keep in touch, we lost touch forever.

More Improvement
Have add-on a whole lot of things since yesterday. The marquee is ready, and i manage to change the layout somehow.

So, How is it?

I guess this is the final look.
Hubby said it's too cramp & complicated... but I love it. What do you think?

Jay, there, the empty space is filled up. *smiles* I think it look more balance now.

Anyway, going Sentosa again this Sunday. And the peeling on my back hasn't heal yet. Sob. Nonetheless, it's a day of relaxation & de-stress at the same time. Been through piles of work this week. *Exhausted*

Well, shall update on Monday! Chao~
Enjoy your weekend.

New skin, New Look
Okay, since some of my readers had complained that my previous skin had made my posts difficult to read, i had since change a new skin.

Apparently, the post is supposed to appear on top of a black background, but the background only appear on some computer, and does not appear on others. Make the reader dizzy... with all the "circles of love" swimming around.

So, it's like (@_@)

BUT!!! I need your help in telling me if there's anything wrong with this site, in terms of layout, background... You know, the technical stuff. Coz it appears to be perfectly fine to me...

I'm no computer-guru, but i'll do my best to ensure a level of comfort in reading my blogs.
Jay & Mel, change the skin because of you. Touch?

Delayed Post
Like a plane when it meet a storm, my weekend post is always delayed till Monday.

This is due to the following reason (note: reason. Not excuse)
~ My notebook normally stays in the office over the weekend. This is because I suffer from
acute Monday Blues on Monday. If I have to drag a heavy notebook with me still, the blue will turn black.

~ I'm normally out on Friday night, with my girlfriends. So when I hit home, I'm shagged. A shagged office girl needs her beauty sleep, so she will look pretty enough on Saturday to go
"Gai Gai" with Hubby on Saturday. (Provided his client didn't steal him. Humph!)

~ Sunday is bonked out day with Yoyo. ZZZZZZZzzzzzzz......

~ The camera cable stays in the office too. So there's no way to load the pictures.

THERE!

Now you know.

Anyway, had Mala Hotpot on Friday with Mel & Ray. HHHOOOTTT!!! Luckily I
managed to wink my way to a table inside the restaurant, which was air-conditioned. No way
am I going to eat Mala without Air-con. I'll looked like a wrinkled chilli padi myself.

Whew!

After a hearty & hotty meal, we chilled out in a cafe.. And took pictures of Ray's kiddy
shirt...

Now Who Says Buying Toys Are Bad?
My cousin, Jenny, was very obssessed with toys...

Over the years, she bought so much toys that her room looked like a toyshop warehouse. And the toys came from all over the World, from cute Japan anime, to nightmarish figurine. She had it all! BUT, it's a strict "See-no-Touch" rule when you stepped into her room.

Sharing with you some of her stock, if anything caught your interest, please drop me a line in the comment box.

Oh, this is my favourite. The doggie family, together with the baskets. It can't be seen in the picture, but in each group, there's a puppy with the tongue sticking out. So cute! But it's the most expensive in her collection...

This is the famous "tou-fu" man, they are actually sitting in one straight roll, but it's long.... I split the line into 3.
