Old Wives Tale
Tuesday, August 30, 2005
Now whoever says that biting a pair of new shoes before wearing them ought to have their mouth stuff with shoes!!
My shoes finally breathe its last on Friday, the strap snapped. Luckily I was a few steps away from home, so it does not look too pathetic walking home bare-footed. I could pretend to walk on the grass, enjoying the feel (And keep a look out of shit-mines) of grass beneath my feet... or at least look like I'm enjoying. :(
So, I got myself a new pair of shoes during the weekend. A conservatist at heart, I've always wear dark shoes for work. Now, under the extreme pressure from Fiona to break the tradition ("the color is universal, it's more lady-like. Trust me, you will like it. I had a pair in this color, and simply love it!") Can I say no? The fact that the design in black look like some uniform thingy on mamasan added to the decision to change. -Sigh-
So here I am, wearing a too-bright-for-comfort shoes.. But I guess I can get use to it.
Just that the material cut into my legs, killing me with a blast of blisters all over my feet!! I can't walk normally now, I hobble. At the speed of snail.
There's no way to escape, the shoes is not cheap. And if I avoid wearing it, it will never be seasoned-down, and will hurt whenever I wear it. Then, in order to seasoned it down, I must wear it more often, and suffer the pain!
.............................. I have nothing more to say...

Unexpected Downfall
Friday, August 26, 2005
Just when I'm fretting about having to buy my 1-year supply of contact lens (I'm saving for Hubby's present ma) God heard my prayer, and bless me with this:
In case you are wondering how many thousands I won, I'm happy to say I won the set of contact lens ($130) and still have $30 left! The ibet system which I'm so crazy about increase the winning probability about 10-fold, but the winnings decreased 100-fold. -__-"
Hubby was disappointed though. He felt that I should have bought more. And keep on highlighting the fact I could have win many many more thousands if I haven't bet on ibet, but the normal betting system. But my theory is, having won something is already a god-send. I feel blessed. One should not be greedy.
At least I have a FREE one-year supply of contact lens!
Yeah!!

Bonded
Wednesday, August 24, 2005
Officially. On 23th August 2005.
Went to CMPB with Hubby to sign the bond, today. Sign away 10years of my brother's life. Now, he officially belonged to the NAVY. Any major milestone in life, like marriage, get a flat, or whatever shitty business, he must report to the NAVY. On top of that, he must also report his result to the NAVY the day the result was out.
Ok, I can't blame them. Afterall, they are paying for his studies, give him allowance, and secure his career for the enxt 10years.
Judging on his qualification, the money is something. In the outside world, it's almost impossible for him to fetch this amount.
The down side is, he will be somewhere in the deep blue sea, terrorizing the sharks and other sea-creatures most of the time. Good and bad. Good, I can have the whole computer to myself, no more queuing-up and "Are-you-done?" Bad side being.... you see, we are close since young. It's hard to imagine him not at home.
but I guess I will have to live with it. -sigh-
Well, this path is chosen by him. Let's just hope that it will all turn out well. He'd better, and termination of contract, Singapore Navy will come running after me for the liability of $22,000.
I'll sell him off as a giggolo to pay off the debt. Humph. ~*~*~*~*~*~
On a side note, heh, my computer at home are up & running already. :)
It's way better than before, with a 1G RAM, 160 memory... Think of all the things I can store!
Yeah! V(^_^)

Metrosexual Vs Retrosexual
Monday, August 22, 2005
Which one will you prefer?
A metrosexual is used to labelled a new-age guy, who look after himself too well. Facial product, lotions, perfume, fashion sense, right down to the small details.. In short, a step short of gay. That step is their preference for woman, instead of their fellow sex. A retrosexual is well, the ancient guy. They know nuts about grooming, had blunt strength, and scoff at body scrubs.
One is well-groomed (too well, in fact), and another is rugged (spells D.I.R.T.Y.). Or should I say, which can you endure? The one that spends more time in front of the mirror than you,or the one who hasn't bathe in days, and oozes the "smell of men"?
For me, I can't stand both, yet I want both. (Who will complain about having alot of men? -wink-) In plain English,
I WANT THE BEST OF BOTH WORLD
My man should be well-groom to be presentable, yet still look like a man, He should not cringe if he has to do dirty work (That should be my job), and if he's going to steal my body lotion for himself, or argue with me which brand of hair mask is better, I'll have to show him the door.. For that kinda thing, I had my gay friends, thank you.
A typical example would be Legolas and Aragorn in the famous LOTR movie, as quoted in The New Paper yesterday. The elf is a good example of metrosexual, clean-shaven, with a smooth-as-baby's complexion to boot, while Aragon is more macho, & rugged looking. His hair is always messy, he's dirty, and he sports a little beard, that just scream SEXY.
Need I say more? Aragorn wins hands down. :)
BUT, I'll make him take a shower at least once a day, teach him how to use facial product. That's about it, anything more, it'll spoil his look. And yes, please keep that beard. Too bad Hubby is not the beard-kinda guy... -sigh- But thank goodness he's somewhere in between. Yes, he's VAIN, no doubt. But he's still capable of catching cockroaches & lizards for me, and sometimes, I still have to kick him for letting go of a stinky fart, right in the middle of dinner.
One thing to be sure of, he still can't tell the difference between a facial mask & cleansing lotion. YET.

Time capsules with the 5s
Thursday, August 18, 2005
Having ripped the post from Jay, my favourite blogger. I'm out-and-ready to do this.
-take a deep breathe in-
NOW, start!
A lifetime
Is like a blink of an eye. One moment I'm still a kiddy-weedy Kindergarden kiddo, another blink, I'm in college, blink again, I'm a boring working adult. Bleah. Before long, a married woman, then a mother, then an old mother, follow by grandmother, then you hit the grave. -shudder-
5 years ago
Hitting the books in preparation for the big "O" (as in GCE O level, not the must-have in sex. Dirty you!) while trying to balance my part-time job, extra classes & assessment, all on my head, and thinking which pub college to go. Not easy.
Fresh out of college, thrilled-to-the-hair-ends at never having to touch any textbooks again. Went for holiday(s), went crazy with shopping (armed with an excuse of buying coporate clothes, yes, when i haven't even found a job) Got hitched onto a British Company, tasting the wild hectic life as an working adult.
Yesterday
The old hag sitted permenantly (the past 15 years) at my office still irritate the hell outta me. I have tried with all my best to accept her, but couldn't. Now, I just treat her as another piece of furniture (just that she's more antique, thus, more problems) in the office. No doubt about her experience collected over the 15 years period, but her EQ, a big fat zero.

Anyway, the opening of the celebration was held on 5th, and that's buffet dinner @ Hotel Pheonix. Company: Melissa, Elyna, & Hubby. After dinner activity-- Oasis Game Cafe, I finally laid my hands on the Pig Race Board game!!
Staurday -REST-
Sunday

And my cake of the day is... my favourite, champagne cake!!! How nice is it, you ask? Let the tester tell you:
Sweet. But tiring.

*mahjong*mahjong*mahjong*
Enough said.
In case you are wondering... I lost my pants off. Talking about being THE lucky birthday girl. Humph.
Wednesday
Buffet(again) at Yuki Yaki, Marina Square. Got a surprise, they gave me 40% off!! It's a National Special!! That's what i love most of my birthday, discount, sale, and special package! -wink-
No picture of the buffet, cos i was too busy eating. They can make ice-cream on the teppanyaki, cool!
And a small celebration at the office..
The secretary got me a very unique cake from Amara Hotel, It's made from jack-fruit. Wierd that it might sound, it actually tastes good. Yummy, in fact. :)
That's about all. I had intend to make it simple, yet, it seems a-wee-bit too lavish to spread it over so many days! Thanks to all who had come to make my day special. And the lovely chomel bangel, Vincci wallet, and yes, the gucci bag -hug gucci bag-

Have a Change of Taste -- Changing Appetite
Friday, August 05, 2005
Hubby is sick of me always crying for Cafe Cartel. In fact, I think Cafe Cartel should issue me a super VIP card. I'm such a loyal supporter of it. Heck, I'm drooling as I am writing this!! Yes, I'm THIS crazy over it! Especially the soup, sandwiches (Cheese & bacon, yesssss!), and so much other stuff.. But most people around me are quite sick of it, and by all means, it's not my fault!!
Anyway, Hubby gave in, and brought me to Marina Square, as they had a new outlet there. Beside the Cartel, we found something new-- Changing Appetite. They serve western food with a japanese twist.
We found the pictures on the menu (especially the dessert!!!) looked good, yummy in fact. And head in.
Food wise, it's just an "OK", normal, not the oh-my-god-this-is-good good, just plain okay. Hubby's choice was much more special, chicken cutlet was good, and they came with japanese curry sauce, which enhanced the taste of the chicken...
For me, I only had the usual.. Dory fish, the healthiest choice. But it paled awfully beside the chicken cutlet curry rice!! Sob!!
One thing very very special about the place was the dessert and their drinks. First, they served the drinks in can, and not the usual nice, fancy glasses. Two, they are very advanturous in the invention of their drinks. One can find many new and interesting drinks in their menu which you will not find elsewhere. Three, they bring in prestige japanese dessert, which is, yes, very unique, while the price stay realistic!
We had their ice-chocolate, one of their trade-mark items. Allow Hubby to intorduce it to you: I'm on air? Wait, is my hair messy?! Wait!!
Ok, now everybody. I doubt you have never tasted good ice-chocolate before... Looking at this sua-ku face of yours.. Let me tell you, at Changing Appetite, they serve the BEST ice-chocolate. Nobody can fight with them!! Look at me, even a mafia like me loves it. You will too, you MUST like it. I order you to like it!!! Grrrr...
Nah!! This is the ice-chocolate I'm talking about. Look at the colours, full of life and huge contrast. And as you can see, they are generous with their chocolate.
Come everybody, raise your cup, opps, can. YYYYAAAAMMMMMM SSEEENNNGGGGG!!!!
Alrite, thank you, hubby-the-mafia-wannabe.

Braving Storm
Thursday, August 04, 2005
Braving the storm, just so that he can be dry when he come in.
Okay, so both of us end up half drenched (he vertically halfed, me horizontally halfed) but that's not the point!!
I know it's dumb of me to just bring one umbrella, but it's only 9+, everybody's not in yet. So where to find more umbrella?
The rain was not heavy when I set off, but halfway, it really poured.. I am alone, holding a big umbrella, yet, I'm drenched waist-down. Shivering in cold, fighting the wind (the wind at my office is scary whenever there's a storm, as it's near the sea) just to fetch him from the MRT station.
I hate it when I emerge from the underground train station to the harsh, pouring rain. That's why i always make it a point to fetch him whenever it's raining, because he never bring umbrella, unless it was raining when he left the house.
After a fierce fight with the wind, I've finally reached the station, I'm not expecting any gratitude speech. But I certainly don't appreciate being annoyed at, and a "Why only one umbrella?" and being urshered to "walk faster, ke yi ma(can or anot?)? and when I got upset, i got a "bu yao zhe yang"(don't be like that).
Now, shivering in the office, with 2 shawls around me, and a pair wet pants. I wonder what is all this for.
Now, I am still waiting for the "thank-you" to come in

Becoming 21? I'm still 20!!!
Wednesday, August 03, 2005
I thought it would be easy for me.
No chalet, no catering, no nothing.. It'll be fuss-free for me, I've decided.
Afterall, I'm only having a simple fare with loved ones..
WRONG!!!
It still takes planning, trying to find a blank spot in everyone's schedule. Trying to locate a restaurant that gives good food with reasonably price.. -exasperation sigh-
Really appreciate those who had, genuinely tried their best to shift their schedule around to suit mine. -hugs all round-
Well, at present time, everything seems well-planned. Reservation made, people's schedule blocked. I'm just keeping my fingers cross that nothing unexpected came up.
If you ask me, what does it feels like becoming 21?
My answer is-- Nothing.
My special desire, heck, I'm not even enthu about watching R(A), judging on how the Board of Censorship works in Singapore, I have no doubt all the juicy part will be cut away mercilessly. Bleah!
No special happiness, what's there to be happy about? Now, if I'm filling in some survey on the street, I can't tick the "16-20" box! Sob!
It's just another day...
Except that a warning given to me by one of my poly-mate keep ringing in my ears..
"Beware of 21, because, after that fateful day, times flies, and before you know it, you are a wife, a mother, and in the 30s"
-shudder-
Oh, for those people who knows...
Ya, have lost some weight. Yeah!!!
