Two Grannies
Tuesday, November 29, 2005
On my way to walk today, two po-pos (old lady) board the train at novena station. Being a good citizen, i gave up my seat to the po-po, the older one.. The po-po looked so smiley, i wanna hug her! Throughout the journey, she kept smiling at her friend, and they chatted about their family in cantonese. She just went to see a doctor at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She had three kids, but everyone was working, so she came alone, not wanting to trouble the kids.

Both of them transferred at Raffles City Station, while waiting for the west bound train, suddenly the elder po-po declared that she's going Bugis. The younger po-po then announced to her that the west bound train could not bring her to Bugis, and wasn't she going to Clementi?

The elder po-po loudly argued that she's going to bugis, as she lived there. And who says anything about going to Clementi?

As they were standing near me, I walked over to the younger po-po (who can speak Chinese) and offered my help. Another lady joined in, explaining to the older po-po why she cannot take the west bound train to Bugis. And so, the elder po-po requested the lady to bring her to Bugis-bound train (!?)

When the elder po-po was being led away, I asked the younger po-po why wasn't she following, her friend was leaving. She told me they were actually strangers. She saw the elder po-po wondering outside Novena station with a young girl, the girl was trying to ask her her destination in Chinese, but the elder po-po couldn't understand a word she's saying. After some probing in Cantonese, they discovered that the po-po wanted to go Clementi, as she lived there.. Since the younger po-po was going to Jurong West, she took her along. NOW, she claimed she lives in Bugis.

Oh dear oh dear...
Don't tell me the elder po-po couldn't remember her home address, and mistook the Guan Yin Temple as her home!? Old people is like that one. They sometimes confused between two places. Like if the elder po-po visit the temple frequently, she may mis-remember it as the house.

I wonder if the po-po is home yet...

Winter in Singapore
Friday, November 25, 2005
Yes, the sun is hidden up again! Hate the weather yesterday! Just when I thought that this year "Winter" felt so nice, the rain was used up, the sun came out to play. It's scorching hot. Pui!

Thank goodness the barely-there-sun-drizzle-whole-day weather is back!Just love this type of weather. After 11 months of sunshine -scorching type- the cold is so refreshing & welcoming. Not to mention me lugging out boxes of long sleeves top, jackets and other thick material clothing and wearing them again. Felt as if I had tonnes of new clothes suddenly.. =)

Anyway, hasn't been updating fast enough, as it's quite choatic in the office. As usual, the secretary racked through her brain & succeeded in getting round the no-taking-leave-till-Dec-rule. She decided to move into her new house on the 26th, thus, out of compassion, my boss allowed her to get pass the rule, and went on leave from thursday (24th) till Monday (21st).
-kick chair- Sianz.... -____-

Well, hubby dated me to Centerpoint after work on Thursday. Just to see my favourite--Christmas tree & their ornament. I'm fascinated by those shiny balls ever since I was young.. Sweet, it's these little gestures that makes slogging with him day in day out seems worth it..
Anyway, those shiny ornaments selling at Centerpoint were so pretty. I wish I had my own house. I'll put out xmas tree all year round. And jazz xmas carol will play in the background.. I'll spray fake snow on my window, put cotton on my house plant, and dress Yoyo as a santarina!

Sigh. Can't wait for xmas already )= (or should i say, my own house)

Hectic
Monday, November 21, 2005
You have been warned.. This is going to be an ultra long (With alot of picture) post, as it consists of 3 days, all in a post...

All started on Thursday, was out of office. Went IKEA (under the name of running errands. Heh!) with hubby to get things for his room. Yes, after like ten years, he's finally doing something, after the continuous pressuring from his mummy-dear.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
A hell lot of stuff. Me feeling all excited (I luuuve buying household stuff) while Hubby was sulking behind, feeling the ache in his heart (and his pocket) There was a throw-over in plum, a cabinet at an insane price of $45, plastics boxes and countless other knick-knacks.

Once we reached home (huff & puff!) Hubby -finally excited- practically tore open the boxes and started to put together the pieces of cabinet... He started with the drawers, which he claimed, was the right procedure, according to instruction booklet, which I never read. So, he won, I lost. =(

And the project commenced..

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.com
And along came SnowWhite the supervisor. She's having problem with her eyes, at the age of 11 years old, it's god's blessing she can actually still see, nevermind only short-distance. That's why she wedge herself in between, to see if Hubby had got the right thing, at the right place..
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I'm the matriarch, anything in the house. You talk to me, y'hear!?

Image hosted by Photobucket.com And the drawers were done...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
After the drawers, we started on the skeleton..

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
80% of project completes.. 2nd supervisor doing QC (Quality Control)

Ya, and she chewed up one of the wooden screw that were supposed to hold the skeleton in place before the real screw was inserted. Blah!

Image hosted by Photobucket.comTa-dah!! Finish product

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

Then came Friday, an important day.

Mel's 21st Birthday Celebration @ Bacarrat! (I know.. Again)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Mega Feast!!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The fondue was great, better than the last trip. Cos there's more fondue fruits, things like strawberry & bananas. Yum Yum. Mel & me polished up everything..
Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Birthday girl, enjoying herself..

Elyna bought a set of Tarot cards at the Specialist Center Bazaar
Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Interesting, but I dunno how to use it. According to Elyna, you think of a question while shuffling. Then the cards you place out, each have a meaning. And no, death card alot of time does not mean death. Believe it or not.

Then on Saturday, it's another shopping spree, with Fiona, the "shun-you" (bad influence sia..)
Managed to grab some good buy..
Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com

But I've gotten another good deal..
Using UOB Rewards Plus points, I exchanged for a 20% discount on $20 voucher, so it's like paying $16 for a $20 voucher. I chose a off-white lacey-top (which I'm lusting over on the previous post). Turn out that the stupid salesgirl refused to let me off, saying that the voucher was $20, and the top was only $19, I'm supposed to get things that exceeded the $20 amount. Abit pissed off, i asked to see the accessories (which tend to be cheapest). So, at last, I settled for these 2 items.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.com
All I can say is.. Heaven got eyes man. Turn out the stupid salesgirl misunderstood the letter. Instead of 50pts + $16, she read it as $20 voucher. Resulting in me, just paying $7 for a $27 purchase. And that, is cheaper then the bronze rose brooch ($8)!

-hoola hoola dance-

I grabbed the deal and run with all I'm worth, with Fiona in tow. Am I dishonest? I seriously thought of this, and couldn't agree with it. Nah. It's not my fault that the silly salesgirl misunderstood the letter. And furthermore, if she didn't play tricks, and insisted that I got something that exceeded the value of the voucher, I think I wouldn't be that mean to her. I thought the merchant should be happier, if the items we bought were lower than the value of the voucher!! Obviously, she's trying to gain more sales. And hello, don't tell me that you would alert the salesgirl of the mistake.. Me, no saint.

Great deal no. 3
I was shopping with Fiona in Far East (after running away), I came across this shop, where I got my green skirt.. While Fiona was trying on her very-pretty-korean-top, I saw it. A lace (what else?) dress. Perfect for dinner. Why? Because it's not your regular satin-material black dress where another 60% of the women turn up with.. It's classy, unique, and best of all, reasonably price. Top it up with a 10% discount. How could I resist it? But the problem was, it was a one piece thing. There's no size. I tried it, and it fitted me to a T! Argh! There's no way for me to put it back!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

After the shopping, it was the regular mala session. So many times we had eaten, but not once did I took pictures. but since I'm so happy that day, I took some...
Image hosted by Photobucket.com Look at those oil. these are medium level..

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Here's what on my plate...

Our Regular Mala-Kakee.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Hubby was not taking it very well.. Sweating buckets while drinking big mouthful of mala soup with glass noodles.. See that roll of paper-towel? He finished it. Not kidding.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Follow closely behind was Fiona.. Actually, to be fair to her, she didn't always looked like this. Just that this time round, they are quite generous on the mala paste.. Hoo~

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Guowei said, "Medium hot? Chicken feet for me!!"

Image hosted by Photobucket.com I love mala hotdog!!

It's so happening, I slept the whole Sunday away.. Anyway, it's the actual birthday of Melissa & Xiaofen. Welcome to the 21-and-above-club. Happy Birthday girls! (Belated by now)
And now, it's the start of the week again! =(

Lace, They Set me Going
Friday, November 18, 2005
Every woman will have a particular style/material that gets them going. It can be satin, suede, leather... or cow-boy style, or Victorian-style.

For me, it's lace.
I just turn me jelly-legged, wow-ing & smitten outside the display case at shopping center. I feel so sexy, and feminine in a lace outfit. Not inner-wear, but blouses & tops or bottoms. Not too much, or they shout sleazy. Just a hint of it by the hems, or maybe a stash of it at one corner. It gives a sense of self-confidence, a spring in my step, a coy in my smile... Just like a kitten.

NOW. Yesterday, when I passed by BYSI at Scotts, there was it. Off-white lace, in a camisole cutting.. Sitting by itself on the first rack, together with with some brown pants, looking totally awesome.. I could hardly breathe. Too bad, it was a size L, and I've no time to rush into the fitting room. Now, I can't get it off my mind.. I HAVE to have it. HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE TO.

-Sigh-

It's almost like a heroine addiction... Argh!

Bacarrat
Monday, November 14, 2005
It was one of the more difficult meal. But finally, I had it... Not without a heated arguement with Him, and a half hour wait at the door, and a jay-walking fine for Fiona.

Despite all these, I think I got back what it's worth..

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
The company. Guowei, Fiona, Lynn, Hubby & me =)
(Mr. Grumpy was happily rackying the food)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Now look at this!! Sashimi, Teppanyaki, softshell crab! Who can resist all these! I lost myself in the feast... -smitten-

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
All the dishes came in super small, single portion, so you could have a taste of EVERYTHING they are offering. Heaven!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
-mouth watering- This is *unbelieveable* Ginko Almond Paste!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Yes, even the pasta came in small mouthful. So your tummy would have vacancy for other what-nots. And best of all, it sets you in the mood for.. Dessert!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Chocolate fudge, oven baked to a crispy crust (While the fudginess was retained inside...) in small chinese wine cup.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I had mine with ice-cream. They were made for each other...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
And the long awaited, Fruits which had went through the chocolate fountain...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This is the banana fondue... See how thick the chocolate are?

The chocolate from the chocolate fountain was yummilicious. They harden up when dripped onto the ice-cream.. rich & creamy.. Hmm...

Well, that's about all.
I couldn't wait, having to go again this Friday. I wish I wish, I wish today was Thursday!!!!!!

One Leg In Tomb?
Friday, November 11, 2005
If you had know that you would end up one day, a divorcee & having to start everything you had trying to build for the pass 15 years all over , would you take that walk down the alter today?

Humans are strange creatures. We know fire hurts, and yet, many of us are playing with it. You knew that there wasn't a happy-ending at the end of the road, and yet still shout "I DO!" with a lovely-face without blinking an eyelash. You said, "You should live for today, and the future can be altered with our hands"

But when things happened, you push the blame to everyone & everything but yourself. Denial. Self-blame follow suit. And you wonder why have you taken the first step in the first place?

On further thoughts, if you didn't take that step, you will never know what's it like, being married, being called a wife, being addressed as Mrs. You will never be a mother (let alone a single mother) and you will be living a shell-up life. It's not natural.

And so what if you were married? Are you sure this person that you love, will love you back the same amount? If not more? What if one day, betrayal slap you in your face? Can you forgive this person that you claimed you love & will stay with all your life? And even if there is forgiveness, can it be forgotten?

Sitting at the crossroad, which path would you choose?

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*

Side note: Look here
This is damn scary can.. There was a time, long long time ago.. there was alot of commentary on this product in my school. Let's hope that no one is using this..

Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire
Wednesday, November 09, 2005
The movie is yet to be out. But it's on the way, coming soon.
And I'm 65% through it, with Harry going into the second task of the triwizard tournament.

Hate to admit it, but it's hard to put down. There's always things going around in Hogwards. And the kids have all grown up.

Well well, shouldn't reveal too much. I'm going back to it (Boss is not in yet! =D )

The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.

In love, you feel the most alive when things are straight-forward, and you're told that you're loved.

You'd like to your lover to think you are optimistic and happy.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was emotional, moody, and difficult to please.

Your ideal relationship is lasting. You want a relationship that looks to the future... one you can grow with.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage something you've always wanted... though you haven't really thought about it.

In this moment, you think of love as something you can get or discard anytime. You're feeling self centered.
What Are The Keys To Your Heart?
Me says: Yeah, right. As if one can discard as you like. If it's true, there will not be so many broken hearted around. Bleh! But it got the type of guy I like/dislike right. But experience told me, a "free" guy don't make a good husband. So... I got Grumpy instead. Right Grumpy? -wink-

Rested
Thursday, November 03, 2005
Having rested for 3 days, I felt so refreshed. Away from work, I did alot of "Myself" stuff, and Yoyo too.

First thing first--enjoyment. I went to Pasir Ris with Hubby, Fiona, Emmelyn & Guowei, and cycle for 3hours straight. Knees wobbled, and an aching butt. But it was all welcoming.

Then there was Yoyo time, she got shaved down again. No thanks to the Bangkok trip, she bit herself silly in anxiety, ending with lotsa matt, which was the biggest no-no for cute Malteses.

Too naked to be comfortable, i dressed her up as the kimono dog.
The kimono bought from Bangkok the previous trip
It didn't make her more comfortable. In fact, the poor girl didn't even has a good night sleep last night!
-hug Yoyo-

Today was my mum's off day. And it had been ages since we last had an outing. So, each foking out $10, we went to our favourite place--Pizza Hut's. And shopping after, loot aplenty. There's shoes from Charles & Kieth (mum), polo-tee for the 2 guys (Bro & hubby), another tee for me, and a very expensive watch for my brother. How expensive you ask?

A freaking $475!
Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.com
And there was this anniversary discount (another sales gimmick I love) of 20%, so the total bill added up to $380+. Cool. My rich brother paid it with the Navy money.

Pui!! -kick chair-

Sooo freaking unfair!! So it's like, from the government thingy, which made it so much unbearable. But thinking back, I'd so love to have the diamonte watch from Guess?. Thinking further back, me think, if I'd really have a good watch on my hand, I wouldn't know where to place my hand. Uneasy. What if I scratch it? What if I knock it? I'm not the most clumsy person, but neither am I on the other pole.

So I guess, my 3year-old butterfly Swatch watch will stay. =) Comfortable & easy.

And there goes the 3 days of freedom.
Tomorrow, back to reality, chain to my desk. =(

Oh, Saturday, RESCUE ME!

For one, no more slacking, I'm learning how to use & handle tools which I have never touch before. More effoct needs to be put in, and alot of things to be learn.

What have I done?

There!
I did a Spa perm-big wave. For the first 48 hours, my hair had to be kept in the coissant-condition(left), this was to set the wave right, if not, the curl would drop, and there would be no wave. On the 56th hour, I pulled the croissant apart, and viola! Small wave.(right)

The hair's best condition would be 4 weeks from now, coz that's when the wave had "seasonize" and less curly.
Well well, jus in time for Chinese New Year!

Had done it on impulse, when I passed by a salon, which were holding a promotion on perming. So, made an appointment for the following morning. I thought it would be a sleepless night for me, but no, guess I was too tired too care so much. :p

Maintenance side, of course, more things need to be done. But the fact is, spa perm needs the minimum maintenance! You just need to scrunch some leave-in conditioner onto the wave, and you are ready to go. But after being spoilt by my super obedient hair for all my life, a little work seems alot. Especially the styling part, which seems so alien to me.

But heck, I'm still surviving.
And well, fresh change!
