A Simple Email...
Tuesday, April 07, 2009
Is what it takes to topple the balanced scale.
But what may be going in the writer’s mind? Is it the green-eyed monster in him/her that prompts this tale-carrying email? Unhappy that the person might be more successful, more well-liked, or even prettier in appearance sense?
It’s apparent that this person seeks pleasure in the unhappiness that has been caused to the subject of jealousy. An unbalanced mind, sneaky character or who knows, hormones at work?
Well, it’s war.
One thing I’m sure, I don’t want to be caught in a cross-fire. Better pack my stuff and scoot!

A Night at the Oscar.. I won!
Monday, December 01, 2008
Standing up there on the stage, trembling, face-to-face with 170+ colleagues that had turned up for the annual D&D, I could feel my legs slowly went weak... my smile was frozen on my face in an awkward manner (I think!) and I am so afraid my 4-inch stilettos would give way on the stage.
Did I mention I was trembling?
Just how the hell did I end up here!?
As the emcee called out the names that were nominated for the Miss Desirable 2008, each nominee was supposed to step up, and do something Miss-Desirable-worthy.
I felt absolutely helpless!
What should I do?!
In the end, I decided on the classic "flying kisses" stunt. I am relieved to hear hoots & cheers going on for me.
Then come the deciding time... the winner of the title was to be decided by the decibel of cheers going for her.
After one round of cheering, the 2nd runner-up was announce, I was left on stage with the other lady, Sheila. So there were to be another round of cheering to decide who will be Kaplan's Miss Desirable 2008. Sheila had commanded hoots, cheers & tables banging! Will there be any cheer left for me? I was worried sick, for fear of embarrassment for my remaining time in Kaplan.
When my name was called...
Half the ballroom exploded into cheers.
Very clearly from the stage, I could see colleagues from the various departments. I could see the program management people cheering crazily, clapping & shouting, I saw the student relationship officers applauding, and my own department colleagues, banging the tables all their might!
This is so unexpected.
I won.
Kaplan's Miss Desirable 2008.

Thank you to all of you who had screamed/cheered/applauded for me.
All of you had truly made this a memorable night for me.

Noise Pollution
Saturday, November 22, 2008
He is loud, seeking every opportunity to be heard.
Including irrelevant stuff to the discussion and confusing everyone, making senseless comments. When there is nothing to say, he make wierd noise so everyone in the meeting will know he is there.
He is a classic model for people to use this line:-
"Can someone shove a c*** into his damn mouth? He's too noisy!"

Catching Up
Saturday, May 17, 2008
Things have finally cleared up, and I can breathe properly again. Classes for my both programs had commence smoothly, and the handover are at the very last phrase of discussion.
The UniSA visit passed in a twinkle, and we had quite alot of fun with them.
And their highlight of this trip, the duck tour. A treat from all of us:
The scenery is fantastic, i felt like a tourist in my own country. How many of us Singaporeans have actually know about our tourist attraction? Our past? Our fore-fathers' glory? Sitting on the boat, the guide lead us from the past - the old supreme court, the memorial, and stuff. To the present, the fullerton, esplanade, merlion garden and the floating stage, to the future, the still-in-construction IR, the marina sands. It makes me feel proud to be a Singaporean. Proud of our country achievement, just like during National parade. Heh.
We were lucky enough to see a dragon boat event at merlion garden

More pictures coming up soon. Will be adding it into this post when I receive it from my colleagues.
Next on the line for visiting: my program director, Jan.
But all he wants, is stingray. This gentleman just can't get enough of it. :)

Office Talk
Thursday, March 13, 2008
I hate the birthday celebrations in my office, they are so surface, insincere & SOP.
Once the birthday song is over, the whole department will wack the food, leaving the birthday boy/girl to distribute the birthday cake. The time taken to distribute the cakes is the same for the people to finish up the most popular/delicious food. So by the time you are done distributing, you will be left with the "normal" food, food that is there every celebration, not especially yummy, with no particular craving for it.
By the end of it, the people will just pat the butt, and left for own seat or toilet, so most of the time, the birthday boy/girl will be involved in the cleaning up.
Where's the celebration?
Much as it is a "show" of equality, it is also the time to see the popularity of a person. If you are well-like, at least you'll have received a few sincere wishes of Happy-Birthday, a few hugs, presents & "chopped" food. Lovely colleagues will "chop" the popular food for you, make sure you have some to eat, swapping/hitting any hands that dares venture close. And of course, you are not the only one involved in the cleaning up process.
On the other end, if you find that only one out of the whole department is singing the birthday song for you, everyone finish the (best) food faster than you can finish making your wish, and no one offer to help you clean-up, you know you as well-like as the water-cooler dispenser in the pantry -you can't get rid of it, you cant stand it either as it's not performing most of the time-
Now whose birthday is next?

From the Deep...
Thursday, February 14, 2008
Just like the splinter in the thumb, it's too small to cause any damage, or draw any blood.
But it just drives you nuts with the annoying pain.
丑人多做怪, it can't hold more truth than this.

"Hey. Sorry to disturb you so late. J has decided to leave the company, as you know. Are you keen to be promoted to Consultant?"A simple SMS, marked my first step up the corporate ladder.
Guys, if you have a friend keen to study part-time, you know who to call. -wink-

Closing...
Wednesday, August 29, 2007
Quote of the Day:
"These are just issues, the problem is you"J finally resigned...
Was is those unsolved issue? Or was it the 6 rounds of talking to by our poor managers? Or maybe it's those complain letters by students? The not-friendly-to-her environment?
No matter what it is. Alot of people are happy, and that's such a pathetic thing..

She Goddit Again
Tuesday, July 31, 2007
J had been breaking down frequently now.
Guess there's a limit to everyone. Hers & everyone else.
Now everyone just scream at her to get things across, and her-crying.
Kinda poor thing, but if you are in the picture, it'll look natural.

There's One in Every Hole
Thursday, July 26, 2007
I have a new colleague. Let's call her J. (I have 9 colleagues whose name start with "J" in our 15-men team. Not counting me & the other girl, who's the support.)
Initially, I found her very poor thing, as it seems like the whole team was rather impatient with her. And it's kinda obvious that she couldn't gel with the people there, and stick out like sore thumb. Her dressing, the way she talk.. all of it. Trying too hard. It's precisely over this reason that made me sympathise with her. If she's the bloody-attitude type, I wouldn't give a damn. But she wasn't.
NOW, having a not-too-pleasant brush with her personally, I have officially joined the Ban-Jxxxxxx Club. All I can say is.. She's really asking for it. Hmph.

First Day of Work
Monday, July 23, 2007
-Environment (checked)
-People (checked)
-Job scope (checked)
-Superior (checked, ok, except for one)
-Culture (checked)
So far so good. I like what I see, but it's still too early to say anything. So I'm still keeping an open mind.
But have a feeling that there's danger in the air. Danger of getting FAT!
So many dinners & luncheon, plus the snacks passing around.
NOOOOOOO!!!!!!
